Trish Watts

Voice as a Life-Line for Belonging

VMT focuses on ‘re-membering’ all parts of our being. As we give voice with an inner hospitality to the disapproving, discarded and often forgotten parts of ourselves, we release self-torment and abuse. Focusing on creating a space for ease, this session will explore the timbres of the voice, engaging active imagination, sonic/emotional range and listening to body wisdom.

Melanie Harrold

The Singing Body

There are times when saving our lives can be about surrendering our voices to the breath and trusting the sounds of our longing, desires and joy emerging from our hearts and our guts. This workshop will be an experiential taster of breath, movement and sound embodying the planes of expression within the shifting vocal resonant patterns of Voice Movement Therapy and The Singing Body.

Sophie Martin

Many Ways to Voice - Acknowledging History, Land and the Heart

Inspired by the Australian tradition of acknowledging the indigenous country we stand on -this workshop will take you on a journey of voice through relationship to heart, history and community. We will weave songs and storytelling together through our connections to our countries, expressing through body and voice.

Lerina van Rensburg

How Singing and VMT can be a Lifeline for Teenagers

To be a teenager means to be misunderstood most of the time. VMT can be a lifeline because no one needs to understand you and you don’t have to explain yourself, but you can still express yourself. In this workshop I will demonstrate ways I engage with teenagers using VMT.

Denise Casey

Lullabies from the Liminial

Each person has a unique set of memories, mentors, places, people, animals, and guides that have loved them over the course of their lives. Small and large moments. In this class, we’ll explore these experiences that live in the liminal space, ground them in our bodies through meditation and movement and bring them back out into song. These are the love songs that we need and the ones that only we can write.

Mali Sastri

The Voice Movement Journey

The Voice Movement Journey is a powerful tool and technique we use in Voice Movement Therapy to explore sound, movement, breath, emotion, thought, image, dreams, and imaginings in an immediate, contained, and improvisational way. Voice Movement Journeying can help us process, integrate, digest and metabolize parts of ourselves and aspects of our lives, and can lead us to unexpected revelations — vocally, or otherwise.
