Beginning the Song and Dance: An Introduction to Voice Movement Therapy

The main purpose of VMT is to enable people to “have their Voice, their actual physical voice – in all its range, flexibility, durability and versatility  – in order to be more expressive and communicate more effectively.  This workshop will be a playful but focused introduction to some of the core principles of our work and will be interactive, so clear a space around your computer to move and make some sounds! We all look forward to welcoming you to this day.  Anne Brownell, Director of the Foundation Training: The Voice Unchained.

Singing Our Truths Together: A one-hour collaborative chant-making workshop

In this workshop we will move, sound, and journal to inspire the lines we’ll use to collaboratively create a chant, woven from our own personal intentions and what is most alive in us right now, in the moment. No experience or training is necessary. All are welcome.

I am passionate about the transformational potential that each voice in each unique body holds.

In this session, I invite you to reconnect with your sacred womb space. As you drop deeper into your body you tune into the flow of creative energy, which essentially is your life force. Through a guided heart sound meditation and gentle movement practice, I encourage you to listen to your sense of belonging and to give voice to the “Song of your Womb” in the moment.

Join VMT practitioner Gina Holloway Mulder to uncover what VMT, as an embodied communication practice, can offer you and or your company.

Have you overlooked the importance of voice in your career or business cultivation strategy? Often the thing that prevents us from thriving in any area of our life is the inability to fully express ourselves. Physical, vocal and emotional blocks result in a lack of energy and motivation and are acknowledged as key contributing factors to anxiety, low productivity and increased stress levels – three of the greatest hindrances to personal wellness, career growth and business prosperity. Being able to confidently and authentically express oneself is fundamental to a sense of self-empowerment and to enjoying a successful and satisfying career.

The aim is to make music, to understand music, to know my instrument and to keep exploring, experiencing & expressing!

Lerina’s teaching philosophy is based on exploring voice and allowing every student to become the best they can. To have the freedom to express themselves through their voice, to explore the endless possibilities the voice has to offer, but also to experience the voice in full.

As we release the control our old stories have on our voices, our new song will begin to sing through us, filling the room with presence, melody, and meaning.

I have been working with Voice Movement therapy for the last 25 years years. Drawing on my years as a touring singer/songwriter I focus on embodying the vocal timbres of VMT through breath, movement, and sound.

When we begin with the breath we can slow down and drop more into our bodies feeling where our voices are anchored in our breathing muscles.

Moving with breath and sound grounds and connects us, shifting our alliance from our heads and trusting our bodies to offer us resonance and support.

VOCAL PLAY: Moving from fear to freedom ….vocally! with Trish Watts

Singing, sounding, and making up stuff can be enormous fun. You don’t have to get it right! When we ‘play’ together landscapes of trust, friendship, hope and possibility pour through. Come and enjoy simple VMT exercises and song scaffolding to sing up vital connections!

“No matter if you’re a bathroom warbler or a karaoke kid, everybody has a voice and every culture needs its voice.
We simply feel more alive and embodied when we use it!”

Veronica Phillips

The Voice Movement Journey invites you to flow with breath, voice and movement: to enjoy, discover and uncover more of your voice and your being.

This workshop is for anyone: no experience is needed.

We will begin with breath, and a short exploration of vocal colours, possibilities and the touch of vocal sound in your body.

You are invited then to step into a longer vocal journey , your freed up voice leading the way.

There will be a little time after sounding to breath and be quietly: to draw or to write.

We will end with a brief toning together.

Mali Sastri

The Voice Movement Journey is one of Voice Movement Therapy’s essential tools.

It’s a way to explore sound, movement, emotion, thought, and image in an immediate, improvisatory and contained way. Voice Movement Journeying can help us process, integrate, digest and metabolize aspects of our lives, and can lead to unexpected revelations — vocally or otherwise.

Blossoming in song

This workshop connects body, voice, and song with an easy approach. Together we can take a moment to breathe and plant a seed to treasure and nourish.

This short workshop provides a space for exploration of your voice using sound and songs to encourage your voice to blossom in the sunshine with harmony.
