Chris MacLean is an award-winning Singer-songwriter; VMT practitioner; Community Choir Facilitator; and Voice coach. She began her VMT training in 2012 and qualified as a Registered Voice Movement Therapy Practitioner in 2016. Chris is also a graduate of the Ubuntu Community Choir Leadership program (2015) and has studied Vocal Improv with Rhiannon and Circle Singing with Bobby McFerrin and faculty at his annual CircleSongs at Omega Institute in NY.
Chris’s performance career spans over 20 years of composing and performing Folk/Roots, World, Jazz and Americana music; and has taken her across the globe. She has 3 recordings of original compositions, and is featured on several others. She is also part of the acoustic trio, Paugan Dames, based in Wakefield QC, Canada.
Chris leads weekly Community Choir sessions for singers of all abilities – The Song Kitchen Choirs in Wakefield QC and in Ottawa ON. Additionally, she works with individual clients; conducts group Singing and VMT workshops; and facilitates LifeSong, Barclay McMillan’s highly acclaimed 10-week voice liberating course based on the principles of VMT.
Chris recently facilitated her first week-long Singing Retreat in Mexico, which included self-exploration and community building through voice and movement; song learning; Circle Singing and two informative and fun extracurricular activities. A similar retreat is scheduled for January 2021.
