About Marya Malas

Marya is a warm, genuine, and intuitive woman who thrives on holding space for others. Her goal is to empower her clients to discover and express their true, unique, embodied Self, by following their own intuition, voice, movements, expressions and awareness. She appreciates both psycho-dynamic as well as humanistic person-centred approaches to therapy, believing that each person has it in them to be their own healer.

Marya’s moto is ‘Move out of your head, and into your body’.

Marya has spent nearly 15 years exploring her own psyche through various energy cultivation work, meditation, life-coaching and psychotherapy, leading her to the discovery of VMT. She also holds a BSc in Psychology and Criminology from Royal Holloway University of London, and a Level 2 NCFE CACHE in Core Counselling Skills.

One of Marya’s favourite things about VMT is how intuitive, personalised and adaptable the work is, resulting in remarkably unique sessions that meet each client wherever they are that day, meaning that VMT is for anyone and everyone.

Marya lives in Brighton and Hove in the UK and is currently taking 1:1 private clients, as well as offering group workshops.

Client testimonies:

‘VMT is exactly what my body was screaming for. With the combination of movement, vocal expression, and singing, my body was thanking me for having given the time to listen and take care of it. Marya is very present and intuitive with her therapy, she made me feel really comfortable to express what I needed in order to heal. Totally recommend it to anyone who is tired of going over the same issues and patterns in therapy, wants to connect with their body, and is able to let their body speak in a language that’s far from the ordinary.’ — BD, UK

‘I also had a profound moment of hearing my voice the loudest I have ever heard it resonate throughout my body during our vocal therapy session; I felt like I touched the core of my power that wants to come alive. I felt very comfortable with Marya and found that her need for teaching comes from a real place. She has a great female presence that is very accepting of whoever shows up in front of her, she is non-judgemental and open whilst being deep in the work she does, which helped me open up quickly and powerfully. My voice really opened up in her presence which is telling of her abilities to explore and grow this type of work. I trust her lead in this kind of a practice. I also enjoyed her heritage and rich background which also adds to the depth she can carry out her work. For me, her cultural influence put a nice flavour into her work with me, I enjoyed connecting with her culturally.’ — TM, Peru

‘I had the honour of receiving vocal movement therapy from Marya from April until June 2023. Before this I had difficulties to sing freely and to feel confident with my voice. Marya not only helped me with technical exercises, we also had a lot of fun exploring tones and sounds in general. I am very grateful to have found confidence and joy with vocal movement therapy.’ — A-M CV, Belgium
