Randolph Matthews is a British-born voice artist with Afro-Caribbean roots and the founder of Voice Movement Immersion (VMI). Renowned for blending voice and movement into transformative creative experiences, Randolph began his Voice Movement Therapy (VMT) experiential training in 2003, spending 20 years exploring the work as an artist and practitioner before officially qualifying in 2024.
Rooted in Voice Movement Therapy as pioneered by Paul Newham, Randolph entwines this foundational work with his own approach in VMI, which draws on immersed creative exploration, behavioral psychology, and movement dynamics. His passion for heritage storytelling, especially from the African diaspora, flows through his live performances and compositions.
Globally celebrated, Randolph has performed in over 40 countries and collaborated with legends such as Herbie Hancock, Angelique Kidjo, and Monty Alexander. His work also extends to innovative compositions for institutions like Sadler’s Wells and the Royal Ballet.
Through Voice Movement Immersion, Randolph invites participants into transformative practices such as Primal Voice Activation, reconnecting with raw, unfiltered sounds; Movement Mapping in Spherical Space, freeing the body and mind through multidirectional movement; Ancestral Storytelling, reclaiming cultural roots through creative expression; and Creative Disruption, breaking conventions to spark fresh self-expression.
Randolph’s work celebrates liberation, heritage, and creativity, offering a unique space where voice and movement transcend boundaries and connect deeply to the soul.
